Government
Contracts
Doing business with the government,
whether selling to it or obtaining government grants
for funding of research and development, has intellectual
property consequences. Inventions and their
patents may be owned outright by the federal government,
or an agency may have “march in rights.” The
FARs and DFARs affect a number of intellectual
property issues. Paying attention to those
details early on can prevent a transaction that
appears lucrative from becoming a bad investment.
