Performance
Rights
To play a recording or to
show an audiovisual work in public may require a
special license from the copyright owner. Those licenses
can be negotiated directly; but, in many cases, performance
rights organizations (e.g., ASCAP,
BMI,
SESAC,
SoundExchange) license performances of their artists’
work. There are some detailed exceptions from this
license requirement for organizations like restaurants
and bars, however.
Contact Arnold & Knobloch if you have performance
or display rights issues.
