Gordon T. Arnold
Gordon is the Managing Partner at Arnold & Saunders, LLP, assisting clients develop intellectual property and commercialization strategy. For over 20 years, he has represented a variety of enterprises in many industries. Gordon has counseled clients in litigation, both in the United States and internationally, on valuation and enhancement of IP portfolios, as well as on avoiding infringement. He is past Chair of the American Bar Association Section of Intellectual Property Law. Gordon has been the Chair of the Patent Policy Committee of the ABA and represented the section in congressional meetings on funding of the Patent and Trademark Office and the pending patent reform legislation. He is also a past-president of the Houston Intellectual Property Law Association, a past Chair of the Patent Law Committee of the American Intellectual Property Law Association, and previously served on the Board of Directors of that organization. Gordon is also the Founding Master of the Houston Intellectual Property Inn of Court. He is a Sustaining Life Fellow of the American Bar Foundation, a Fellow Committee Member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association, and a Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation. He received his BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas and his JD from the University of Houston College of Law. Gordon was an Associate Editor of the Houston Journal of International Law and an intern to the late Hon. Norman Black of the Southern District of Texas.
Jason A. Saunders
Jason A. Saunders is a partner at Arnold & Saunders, LLP and counsels clients in a wide variety of intellectual property matters, including: patent and trademark application prosecution and litigation, copyright registration and litigation, domain name disputes, M&A due diligence, and intellectual property strategy.
Mr. Saunders has focused on intellectual property over his entire legal career and has litigated patents in a wide variety of technical fields, including: simple consumer devices, broadcasting and RF engineering, chemical products, downhole tools, digital signal processing, digital encryption, computer hardware, vehicle navigation, and medical devices. In addition, he has worked in a variety of research and development environments such as university affiliated labs, independent research organizations, and technology start-ups.
Mr. Saunders studied Physics and Mathematics at Baylor University in Waco, Texas and Law at The University of Houston Law Center in Houston, Texas. He is licensed to practice before all Texas State Courts, The Federal District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of Texas, The Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, The Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, and The United States Patent and Trademark Office.
Mr. Saunders is a member of the American Bar Association, the Texas State Bar Association, the American Intellectual Property Law Association, and the Houston Intellectual Property Law Association.
Christopher McKeon is an associate at Arnold & Saunders, LLP and counsels clients on all aspects of intellectual property matters, including: intellectual property strategy and litigation as well as the prosecution of patents, trademarks, trade secret litigation, and copyrights.
McKeon brings significant engineering experience to his intellectual property practice. Prior to his legal career, he held an engineering position with a leading oil and gas company. Mr. McKeon’s multi-faceted background ensures he understands not only the legal issues, but also the mechanical and business-related issues required to effectively manage a company’s intellectual property portfolio.
Mr. McKeon received his Bachelors of Science and Masters in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M University and his JD from the University of Houston College of Law.
Mr. McKeon is a member of the Houston Bar Association, the American Intellectual Property Law Association, and the Houston Intellectual Property Law Association.
Marketing and Communications Manager
DeVonne Bena joined Arnold & Saunders in January 2012 as Marketing and Communications Manager. Mrs. Bena’s responsibilities include all of the firm’s marketing, branding, communications, and client relations management. Prior to joining the firm, Mrs. Bena attended the University of Houston majoring in Public Relations with a minor concentration in English.
Thao Ton joined Arnold & Saunders in September 2005 as a legal assistant. Her duties include managing patent and trademark filings, coordinating office operations and projects, assisting in litigating discovery requests, and drafting correspondence letters to clients. Thao also coordinates with foreign associates in the filing of foreign patent and trademark applications. She is responsible for general secretarial duties, processing invoices, organizing files, and maintaining library materials.
She graduated from University of Houston in December 2002 with a Bachelor degree in Accounting and Finance and minor in European studies.
Ms. Ton speaks fluent Vietnamese.
