Houston NELA Presents:
What the New Defend Trade Secrets Act Means for Employees and Their Lawyers

Tuesday, September 20, 2016
11:45 am - 1:00 pm
Theo's Restaurant
812 Westheimer Road ~ Houston, Texas

Charles Knobloch will join co-panelists Karen Tripp and Zach Wolfe at the upcoming Houston Chapter Panel Luncheon of the National Employment Lawyers Association, NELA. Join us as the panel, moderated by NELA Houston Chapter president Stanley Santire, explores an early test case under the new Federal Defend Trade Secrets Act. Under the new law, common actions like carrying a USB key chain or uploading files through a cloud service to review at home can spell trouble for employees when they leave their company, and for their new employer. Not only are there now federal implications for possibly inadvertent actions, but there are also state and international implications under the relatively new Texas Uniform Trade Secrets Act and the recently approved EU Trade Secrets Directive; all of which will be explored in this insightful and timely panel discussion.

Panel Members
Karen Tripp, Tripp Law Firm: Karen received her law degree from the University of Alabama and served as a law clerk to Chief Justice C.C "Bo" Torbert of the Alabama Supreme Court. She has published extensively and edited publications in the field of Intellectual Property for The Thomson West Group and Thomson Reuters. Zach Wolfe, Fleckman & McGlynn, PLLC: Zach is a trial lawyer with Fleckman & McGlynn. His practice focuses on cases involving non-competes and trade secrets. He also publishes the weekly litigation blog
Charles Knobloch, Arnold Knobloch & Saunders, LLP: Charles is intellectual property and technology commercialization counsel on cases involving intellectual assets, including patents, trademarks, software, and works. He is also a computer science geophysicist, Chair of the US Bar - European Patent Office Liaison Council, Chair of IPO sub-committee on Worldwide Patent Enforceability, and Program Chair - Offshore Technology Conference with over 20 years previous experience at Conoco.

Cost: $30 for NELA-Houston members who RSVP by noon on Monday, 9/19/16, by email to Stanley Santire; $20 for students and $35 for all others. Please pay at the door in cash or by check payable to "National Employment Lawyers Association - Houston Chapter."
